Documents required for driving – In order to drive a bike, car or any motorized vehicle, you will need some documents as per the Road Transport Act. Below the details of what documents are required for which vehicle:

bike documents for traffic police- Currently, 3 documents required to ride a bike:
- Bike Registration Certificate, Bike Number Plate.
- Update Tax Token
- Driving license (According to the current law, if you keep this paper while riding a bike, the traffic surgeon will not file a paper case against you.)

What is Vehicle Registration Certificate?
Authorization letter from BRTA and document verifying registration details. The bike or car registration certificate basically carries the ownership information along with the number plate information of the bike or car. It is easy to know that the vehicle is in your name with BRTA. You can understand its details by looking at the picture below.
It may take 2 to 3 months to get this card after buying a new car here. (It may take more time depending on the BRTA office) At that time you will be given a registration acknowledgment slip, which you can proceed with. (Traffic paper should be shown instead of card)

You must submit this card/slip when transferring ownership. After the transfer, you will receive an Ownership Transfer Acknowledgment Slip. This slip allows you to drive the car.

What is a text token?
Proof that you have paid tax on your vehicle to the government. You can deposit for 10 years at the time of vehicle registration, or you can deposit for two years.
Ways to recognize Tax Tokens
Here is a sample of Tax Token. You have to pay tax for the next 10 years from the year of manufacture of your car. After 10 years the bike does not have to pay taxes. Update the tax token after 10 years only 23 Taka of paper print should be deposited in the bank.
Different types of fees are payable based on vehicle capacity, age, engine (cc).
Generally for bikes above 100 cc one has to pay Tk 2300 including VAT for 2 years text token. (Currently, an additional payment of 1150/- is required for Trustee Board Certificate. Its validity is 10 years, if you give it once, you will not have to pay this 1150 Tk for the next 10 years.)

Driving license
One of the most important things for driving a car is the license. Your driving license confirms that you can drive. Driving license is approved by BRTA for you. Driving license generally divided two categories. A professional driving license and amateur driving license.
Non Professional driving license
With this you can drive a bike, private car or CNG etc. registered in your own name. You may not drive a vehicle in someone else’s name, or company’s vehicle for employment. An Non Professional driving license is generally valid for 10 years.
Professional driving license
You can get professional driving license for all types of motor vehicles. With this license you can drive other’s car. You can drive your own car. Can drive a rental car or do a driving job. The duration of this license is generally 5 years.
Fitness certificate
BRTA will issue you a certificate after checking whether your vehicle is roadworthy, whether it emits any toxic fumes, whether the headlights are working, etc. BRTA issues fitness certificates for vehicles. Fitness certificates not required for bikes. Private cars and other vehicles must renew their fitness certificates annually.
Methods of fitness renewal
A vehicle inspection date is first required at BRTA to renew the fitness. And The prescribed fee has to be deposited. After depositing the fee, go to the BRTA on the scheduled day and get the BRTA officer to inspect the vehicle. He will observe the above and approve your vehicle for roadworthiness. Or it will let you know if something needs to be fixed.

Documents required for driving
The traffic sergeant can issue the case for various reasons apart from the above documents.
- Not wearing a helmet or seatbelt: Not wearing a helmet on a motorcycle and not wearing a seatbelt on a car.
- If you don’t obey the traffic signal, you will face consequences.
- Driving faster than the speed limit.
- Improperly or dangerously overtaking.
- Using a mobile phone while driving.
- Expired driving license.
- Vehicle noise or air pollution: causing noise or pollution in excess of permissible levels. (Many use modified silencers to increase bike noise)
- Illegal parking: Parking outside the designated space.
- Dangerous driving: If there is a possibility of causing harm to the life or property of others by driving recklessly.
- Also, the traffic surgeon can file a case against you for violating any rule of the Road Transport Act.
